Gender Justice Project

The Full Story

The Gender Justice Project’s main work is to gain advocacy and support to help push the importance of rights for Women and LGBTQ+ people. They do this by having meetings and events on campus. The project teams up with actual students and staff to address probelms of discrimination so that they can advocate the Women and LGBTQ+ rights more effectively. They also right laws, and advocate current laws to advocate for equality.  Their goal is to start on their campus with their students and staff to gain knowledge of discrimination that is still going on today. They use these real life stories and experiences to help their advocacy and push for equal rights, through all aspects of life; fashion, health, and community.

My advocate for my Gender Justice Project is the founder Laurie Morin. She is a middle aged woman with a white ethnic background. She is a law school professor at the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of District Columbia. Laurie Morin has taught at the David A. Clark School of Law for twenty years. She is involved in this movement because of the amount of stories and experiences she was hearing about discriminaiton on Women and the LGBTQ+ communities on her own campus. Due to her legal experience and pro bono work, she decided to take these experiences and turn them around. She then started the Gender Justice Project to advocate for Women and LGBTQ+ rights from any and all backgrounds.
